We would like to express our outright protest against the saddening rhetoric that in the recent days has been accompanying the Polish-Israeli discussion on the changes to the act regulating Poland’s Institute of National Remembrance. Recognizing that the freedom of speech also carries responsibility, we would like to point out that the emergence of the anti-Semitic statements in the public sphere, especially in the context of the 50th anniversary of the March 1968 events , may result in bringing out the belief that the hate speech that destroys the moral sensibility of our society is allowed in Poland. We believe that the good name and interests of our country are hurt the most by such statements. At the same time, such voices are destructive to the difficult work that had been accomplished in the last decades in the name of pursuing the truth, of the dialogue and understanding between Poles and Jews. As people who are influenced by the legacy of Jerzy Turowicz, Władysław Bartoszewski, Jan Błoński, and many other authors of “Tygodnik Powszechny”, we feel obliged to take a stand in this matter. http://pleasewriteapaper.hatenablog.com/

@Jacek: Bullshit! Ale zgodnie z tradycja, mozesz miec swoje zdanie. Tylko dlaczego wmawiasz innym zla wole?
“Przesadne reakcje i skrajnie antysemickie wypowiedzi – w odpowiedzi na antypolską propagandę – budzą niepokój i godzą w dobre interesy naszego kraju…” itd. To byłaby prawda. A tak – list jest kolejną inicjatywą środowiska TP w celu pogorszenia relacji społecznych, nie opowiadającą się po stronie wartości, lecz pozycjonującą po jednej ze stron walki politycznej. Nawet w takiej sytuacji, gdzie w tle jest tragedia ludzka, nie może się wznieść na wyższy poziom?
